Who is The Cruising Dodo?
My name is Sylvia, and I am the person behind The Cruising Dodo. I live in the United States in a mountain town surrounded by the largest ponderosa pine forest in the world with my daughter (5 years old) and husband. I was born and raised in Mauritius Island, which is a small tropical island located in the Indian Ocean. In addition to Mauritius, I lived in Ottawa, Canada for nine years before moving to the United States. I am an avid reader, tea drinker, traveler, and cruise-goer. I hold a Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management as well as a Master of Health Care Administration. I am currently a contributor at Flagstaff Mom Collective, which is a parenting website written by local Moms for Moms in the area I live in.
What is The Cruising Dodo ?
The Dodo is an extinct bird that was endemic to the island of Mauritius. I was born and raised on this tropical island and even though I lived in Canada and recently made the United States my home, I wanted something personal that represents my background.
Why The Cruising Dodo?
I believe life is about collecting moments thus, I started The Cruising Dodo to share the memories I make around the world with my husband and daughter one port of call at a time. So far I completed 12 cruises and visited over 35 countries. I cruised with Royal Caribbean International, Princess Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line and Disney Cruise Line. To sum it up, the Cruising Dodo is an online diary of my travels. It is a hobby I enjoy, an outlet to express myself to a large online audience, and a way to improve/experiment with different writing styles.
